My name is Brian Tate and I am honored to be part of the Great Hearts North Phoenix Prep community. I grew up in Delaware and Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. I have lived in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, and Trinidad and Tobago. I studied mechanical engineering and economics at the University of Texas, international business at the University of Colorado, and education at New Mexico State University.
My interest in teaching began as a volunteer tutor of mathematics for Native American high school students. I taught mathematics at an all-girls residential high school for troubled teens. I mentored high school juniors and seniors as a JAG college and career-readiness program specialist. And, I taught autistic children at a private school in Petit Valley, Trinidad.
I enjoy time spent with my wife, Patrina, 6-year-old son, Dorian, 4-year-old daughter, Elise, and dogs, Lucy and Spencer. I like cycling, gardening, cooking, flyfishing, backpacking, and vintage race cars.
