Looking forward to a safe and healthy quarter, please reach out if you have any questions. Angie Nelson Office Manager Prep families, Ms. Jacobson Middle Schoolers, this weekend you will be added to the Google Classrooms for your Gladiator teams. There you will find activities that you can do to earn gladiator tickets for your team, which you can start next week. Remember, you can still earn gladiator tickets in person for doing good works for the community here at school as well. We will count up tickets every week and post the totals in ACTA Gladiator, the Weekly Newsletter, and on the whiteboard outside of the dean’s office. Good luck and have fun! If you still have not heard which team you are on, please contact Ms. Schripsema at sschripsema@northphoenixprep.org to find out. Save the Date! On Friday, October 30, we will have an Amazing Race Community Day for North Phoenix Prep, including a Pancake Breakfast, Field Day, AND Literacy Day! PSO will provide a pancake breakfast for ALL students in their grade levels! Then, students will stay in their sections to play athletic and academic games on the field, courtyard, and classrooms. You’ll be able to earn Gladiator Tickets for your team by demonstrating your good sportsmanship and friendly, competitive spirit! It’s also Literacy Day, so students and faculty may dress up as their favorite classical literary character or historical figure. Any character from NPX or ANP curriculum counts, as well as any text or person who could be considered classical. If you’re not sure, please feel free to ask! You may also dress up in athletic wear and spirit gear. Please make sure to follow the athletic wear guidelines found in the NPX Family Handbook (linked here, page 54). Have fun, be safe, and GO GLADIATORS! Please considering signing up HERE to help out Dr. Bain’s family by bringing a meal to them. Academy Giving Every family! The Fall PSAT with take place October 29th, 2020 for ALL 9th-11th graders. NPX has already ordered the test for every 9th-11th grader, so all you will need to do is show up on October 29, 2020 to sit for the exam. 11th graders, your PSAT scores are used to identify National Merit Scholars and award merit scholarships. https://www.nationalmerit.org/s/1758/start.aspx?gid=2&pgid=61 At NPX, we are committed to making sure that we prepare and support students for their post-secondary plans. The PSAT is a great primer for the SAT, and can even prepare you for the ACT as well. It will help in getting familiar with the layout and content of the SAT (which may be required for college admissions your senior year). By taking this test now, you can help identify your strengths and potential weaknesses. If you are wondering: What does the PSAT cover? Your PSAT Student Guide Book (available at the front entrance where you get your temperature checked), will cover everything you need to know AND help you to prepare for the exam. Also, one of the benefits of choosing Great Hearts, NPX is that the content you are learning in your classes will be on the exam. So in essence, the hard work you are doing NOW in your classes, will prepare you for the test (give your teachers a big thank you). I recommend you check out this link where you can take a practice test and find out additional information. https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10
